Indian Institute of Tourism and Management (IITM) is a not for profit organisation that has been serving the needs of the hospitality industry since 1994. The institute is governed by the Governing Council and the Coordinator is the head of the institution. The eleven years of Professional existence has made IITM one of the premier educational institutions in the state of Kerala and Tamilnadu with an outstanding reputation of working among weaker sections and empowering them for gainful employment. IITM was able to provide gainful employment to over thousands of students from middle class and lower middle class segments of the society through its centers in Kerala and Tamilnadu. Over the years Govt. of India, Govt. of Kerala and various other government agencies have associated, acknowledged and accredited the competence of IITM in the field of education and employment. IITM also networks with several NGOs providing consultancy support.

The Hotel management Programme of IITM is monitored and jointly certified by  Kerala Institute of Labour and Employment (An autonomous body constituted by the Govt. of Kerala).  A third party monitoring of the programme is entrusted to evaluate the programme periodically and enhance industry – institute interaction, widen hotel management education in respective states, enhance quality intake of students and to provide entrepreneurial skill training

The centers are fully equipped with classrooms, reference library, house keeping training room, fully equipped training kitchen and restaurant and a collection of standard equipment, tools and wares which are used in hotels of star category. The programme include theory sessions and practical hands-on training covering front office operations, housekeeping, food and beverage production, food and beverage service, hygiene and sanitation and principles of hotel management. Students are provided apprenticeship training in leading hotels to train them to take up job responsibilities in star hotels, resorts, flight catering, cruise liners, clubs, industrial catering, corporate catering, hospital catering, restaurants and so on.

 

The uniqueness and success of IITM is in its excellent placement .The students, hailing mostly from rural and poor background have been placed in reputed and prominent hotel chains in Kerala, Tamilnadu and outside such as TAJ, Leela Palace, Le meridian, Holiday Inn, ITC etc. IITM has an exclusive placement officer and placement offices at Kochi, Chennai and Bangalore to oversee the placement and bring in hotels of repute for campus recruitment. Training and Placement of IITM is equivalent to any leading Hotel Management schools in the country.

 

In order to ensure quality placement IITM emphasizes and commits its resources for the recruitment of highly qualified, experienced and committed staff. Out of all stakeholders staff and faculty form the pillars for the educational program at IITM.

 

 Being a charitable organization working with Non-profit motive whatever fee collected and grants received are expended on the continuous improvement of curriculum, Faculty strengthening, Facility creation, Student support, Training and Placement. As part of forging its academic community, IITM regularly conducts staff training and updation programmes.

Due to quality training and assured placement, students of IITM are in great demand in the hotel industry.    100 % placement of students has also made easy availability of bank loans for students.
